Are these quality wicker picnic baskets?
Absolutely. Everything in our store has either been made by us or carefully hand-picked for the attention to detail each artisan puts into the build. Wicker made out of rattan is especially strong so expect these baskets to last for decades, even when exposed to the elements. The liner is not only a fashion statement but also protects the rattan from the food and drinks inside. Give it a wash every so often to keep your basket fresh and clean. More on that below...
How to care for your basket
Like most natural fibers (rattan is similar to bamboo but generally stronger as it's not hollow inside), it's sturdy on its own but some basic care should be taken to keep it in tip-top shape. Every so often, give your wicker picnic basket a vacuum with the fabric attachment or similar. Maybe once a year (depending on use), give it a quick wipe down with water and just a drop or two of dish soap. Let air dry, outside in the sun is best. If it gets super dirty or soiled (eg, something spilled), simply give it a bath. Fill your sink or tub with water and just a few drops of dish soap. Submerge it a few times but don't leave it in the water for too long. Give it a wipe down, let dry in the sun and voila.
Other than picnics, what are some other common uses?
Good question. We've taken our wicker basket to concerts, hikes, birthday parties, family events and many other spots. Basically, any place/event that you'll be at for more than a couple hours and there'll be at least a couple people is a prime candidate. I've even taken my favorite basket to a few different restaurants...kinda nice to have my homemade fresh bread with a great meal. The bonus is no need for a doggy bag. Toss it in the basket and off ya go to grandma's house (wait, unless you're sporting a cute little hood, we're getting off topic :). Overall, you'll love their versatility and the endless opportunities to spend quality time with friends and family.
